The Spike Protein is the characteristic surface antigen of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), or 2019 Novel Coronavirus. Spike protein is assembled as a trimer consisting of S1 and S2 domains. SARS-CoV-2 binds to angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) receptors on host cell membranes by specific interaction with its receptor-binding domain (RBD), located on the S1 domain. We have recombinantly produced the S1 subunit, genetically fused to a 6X Histidine Tag. This antigen is available in 100ug research amounts, as well as bulk amounts. Our S1-His has been externally validated in publications showing it is recognized by SARS-CoV-2 positive patient serum.
