c-Myc, short for cellular Myelocytomatosis oncogene, is a proto-oncogene that plays a critical role in regulating cell growth, proliferation, and differentiation. It belongs to the Myc family of transcription factors and is found in all human cells.  c-Myc also plays a crucial role in cellular metabolism, stimulating the uptake and utilization of nutrients to support the high energy demands of rapidly dividing cells. Additionally, c-Myc influences cell differentiation and apoptosis, making it a key regulator of normal development and tissue homeostasis. In cancer cells, the uncontrolled expression of c-Myc promotes abnormal cell growth, survival, and invasion. Altered c-Myc expression is therefore strongly associated with tumor formation and is required for vasculogenesis and angiogenesis within tumor tissue. PtX™ Mouse Anti-c-Myc (9E10) specifically detects c-Myc protein, as well as c-Myc-tagged recombinant proteins, and has been validated for use in WB and ELISA.

PtX™ | Plant-Based Expression

The biotechnology behind the development and manufacture of this product, transient plant-based expression, effectively turns Nicotiana benthamiana plants into single-use, biodegradable bioreactors. Infiltrating this plant species with Agrobacterium tumefaciens cells, transformed with our proprietary plant expression vectors, allows rapid production of a wide variety of recombinant proteins. Plants are harvested and proteins extracted by various stages of filtration, clarification, purification, and polishing – resulting in a highly functional final product.
