Polyhistidine tag, commonly referred to as his-tag, is a synthetic oligopeptide consisting of 6 - 10 consecutive histidine residues inserted into the amino acid sequence of recombinant proteins. His-tags are genetically fused to target proteins, creating a cluster of histidine residues at either the N- or C-terminal region of the protein. Histidine residues have strong and selective binding affinity to metal ions, e.g. Ni2+, making His-tagging the preferred method for recombinant protein purification. His-tag is also used in conjunction with anti-His antibodies for detection of proteins for which no antibody exists. PtX™ Human Anti-His tag (C-term) (HRP) is designed to specifically recognize and bind C-terminal His-tagged proteins, making it ideal for Western blotting and ELISA applications. This antibody is genetically fused to HRP, a highly sensitive enzyme that produces a strong signal in detection assays, allowing for the easy detection and quantification of His-tagged proteins.

PtX™ | Plant-Based Expression

The biotechnology behind the development and manufacture of this product, transient plant-based expression, effectively turns Nicotiana benthamiana plants into single-use, biodegradable bioreactors. Infiltrating this plant species with Agrobacterium tumefaciens cells, transformed with our proprietary plant expression vectors, allows rapid production of a wide variety of recombinant proteins. Plants are harvested and proteins extracted by various stages of filtration, clarification, purification, and polishing – resulting in a highly functional final product.
